During the Marvel. Com live-blog it was announced that writer Jeph Loeb (Ultimate X) and artist Ed McGuinness (Red Hulk) will bring back the recently deceased time traveling mutant CABLE in a four part mini series this December, titled Avengers: X Sanction.
The details of his return were kept secret but writer Jeph Loeb revealed that Cable will be going up against the Avengers and the events of this series will affect the X-men universe.
What Cable is up to is not something that can be done quietly. It will raise the interest of some pretty important people and leaders in the X-Men community will have to step in at some point in the storyline.
Loeb also promised that X Sanction will be a jumping point for the 2012 events planned in the X books.
Cable was last seen during the X-men event Second Coming, where he sacrificed himself to saved his protégé and adopted daughter Hope. Executive Editor Tom Brevoort suggests protecting Hope may be what pushes Cable to attacking the Avengers.
The idea of Cable as a man out to protect his daughter by any means necessary gives the character an emotional heft and underlines everything he does. This story puts Cable in a situation where he’s surrounded by and dealing with characters he doesn’t normally. It’s not just another story with Cable and the X-Men
Avengers: X Sanction is scheduled for a December release. Make sure to reserve your copy of this game changing issue today.
